Vintage Synths / IDM / Techno
Nick Cosic (born Nikola Cosic) is an electronic music producer and DJ specialized in IDM, techno, and progressive house. A master of modular arrangements and vintage synths, active since the 1990s with decades of experience in the Serbian music scene.
In the ’90s, Nick created an experimental short film, Sentimental Story About A Schizophrenic Maniac, which aired on national TV in Serbia and was selected at a local short film festival. This led to DJing for the psytrance organization Technokratia, and live performances at Belgrade’s Barutana, Dom Omladine, and KST.
In 1998, during the height of the war in the region, Cosic was invited to a computer arts forum in Sofia, Bulgaria — an opportunity to showcase Serbian electronic music as a means to promote art over war. He released his debut album Inventing Reality on cassette through DS Music, then collaborated with folk artist Ivan Mushoki. His track “Pirot Cherry” held the No. 1 spot on mp3.com’s Drum & Bass charts for several months, and was reviewed in XLR8R, raw42.com, and Serbian press.
Citing FSOL, Autechre, and Lassigue Bendthaus as his influences, Nick continues to expand his modular and synth musical horizons, creating spaces online for synth-related groups to share and collaborate.
